Pay Attention To His Wisdom And Listen To His Words

Bible Study: Proverbs Chapter 5

In the name of Jesus to share:

Scripture:

My son, pay attention to my wisdom,

turn your ear to my words of insight,

that you may maintain discretion

and your lips may preserve knowledge.

Thank God. Our heavenly father Jesus remind us to pay attention to His wisdom and listen to His words of insight. We shall recognize the wisdom and insight of Jesus which is higher than ours just like the heaven is higher than the earth.In 1st Conrithian also said the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom. That is to say no one in the world is wiser than God. In the eye of God, our wisdom is regarded as foolish. If we would like to gain the True wisdom, we must pay attention to God's wisdom and listen to His words which will help us to do everything with discretion and our lips will speak words with wisdom. All of us can speak and but not everyone knows to speak. As proverb 25:11 told us" Like apples of gold in settings of silver is a ruling rightly given. " The wisdom of God and the words of God will improve our ability to speak rightly.

“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9 NIV)

For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. (1 Corinthians 1:25 NIV)

Scripture:

For the lips of the adulterous woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil;

but in the end she is bitter as gall,

sharp as a double-edged sword.

Her feet go down to death;

her steps lead straight to the grave.

She gives no thought to the way of life;

her paths wander aimlessly, but she does not know it.

The lips of adulterous woman drip honey which show she is good at speaking sweet words and making people happy in the heart. Her speech is smoother than oil, communication like oil will make people feel comfortable. But the end of her life will be bitter and sharp like double-edge sword which can hurt anyone who get close to her. She goes towards to death whose result is in hell. The adulterous woman cannot find the way of life since she was indulged in sin which covers her eyes to see the eternal life. She keeps wandering without any direction and sense because of being driven by sins.

Scripture:

Now then, my sons, listen to me;

do not turn aside from what I say.

Keep to a path far from her,

do not go near the door of her house,

lest you lose your honor to others

and your dignity to one who is cruel,

lest strangers feast on your wealth

and your toil enrich the house of another.

At the end of your life you will groan, when your flesh and body are spent.

Our heavenly father remind us again"listen to Him" We don't turn aside from what God tell us since His words is our life. All of us should keep distance from adulterous woman, no mention to go near her door. If we get close to adulterous woman, we will lose our honor from God. The days we spent will be cruel since the sin has no mercy on us which will make us suffered. Once we lose the holyness given by God after accompanying with adulterous woman, our wealth will be taken away by strangers. What we earn from labor will be used to enrich the house of others. We will feel our body and flesh being destroyed. The end of our life will be full of groaning without hope which is very terrible. May God protect His people far away from adulterous woman which is a big loss for us.

Scripture:

You will say, “How I hated discipline!

How my heart spurned correction!

I would not obey my teachers

or turn my ear to my instructors.

And I was soon in serious trouble

in the assembly of God’s people.”

At the moment we forsake the words of God and get close to adulterous woman, we will see the misery of the life.Our ancestors Adam and Eve were tempted by devil and evil desire to eat the fruits of the tree of Good and evil then their eyses saw the shame. The same for ones who disobey the instructions from the teachers. We will feel regretful once hating the discipline since everyone needs to eat his own fruit of his own way. God is merciful but He is also righteous. After David took the wife of Uriah, the sword never left his house till today which is a lesson for us. If we are in the God's assembly but despise His correction, turn the ears away from His instruction and forsake His discipline, we will still be in serious trouble.The blessed is the one who listens to the word and does what It says.

Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror ...But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do. (James 1:23,25 NIV)

Scripture

Drink water from your own cistern,

running water from your own well.

Should your springs overflow in the streets,

your streams of water in the public squares?

Let them be yours alone,

never to be shared with strangers.

In the house of each family, they have their own cistern and well. They will drink the water from his own cistern and well. We cannot run to cistern or well of others for water which is from greedy heart. Besides that, no one will allow his own spring overflow outside the house and appear in the streets. No one is willing to see his streams of water flowing in the public area. The water in the cistern and well can only be flowing inside the house which belongs to the owner only. Here refers to the marriage. Everyone has the partner in the marriage like his own cistern and well. Each one in the marriage only drink water from his own cistern and well and also manage the cistern well so it will not come out to the street and public area and being shared with strangers. It means both the wife and husband have the responsibility to keep the convenant of marriage and also manage it according to words of God.

Scripture

May your fountain be blessed,

and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth.

A loving doe, a graceful deer—

may her breasts satisfy you always,

may you ever be intoxicated with her love.

Why, my son, be intoxicated with another man’s wife?

Why embrace the bosom of a wayward woman?

If we do as the commands from our instructor, our fountain will be blessed. We will find rejoice with the wife which we get since youth. She is like the loving doe, the lovely deer whose breast will satisfy you since God bless the marariage. Whoever obeys His command in marriage, he will enjoy peace in familyship and the sweet love in marriage. The first miracle Jesus performed in Cana is turning water into wine in the wedding banquet. It means God is willing to bless the marriage and also He has the power to turn marriage from blank water into delightful wine. The precondition is to obey His instruction in marriage. Don't embrace the bossom of another man's wife and wayward woman.Be loyal to your partner in heart and body by depending on Holy Spirit. You will see the blessings and work of God in your marriage. Thank God.

Scripture

For your ways are in full view of the Lord,

and he examines all your paths.

The evil deeds of the wicked ensnare them;

the cords of their sins hold them fast.

For lack of discipline they will die,

led astray by their own great folly.

(Proverbs 5:1-23 NIV)

The last but not least. Our Lord is almighty who always view through our mind, our heart and the paths we are walking along. If we are willing to keep and follow His words, God will help make our paths from crooked to straight as promised in below scripture.

Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth. (Luke 3:5 NIV)

But the one who doesn't want to follow God's commands, they will be caught by the evildeeds and cannot set free whose final destination is destruction because of foolishness.We shall keep God's command in our heart since It is our life , lamp for our feet and light on our path.
