Was Paul A Sinner Before Being Baptized
About noon as Paul came near Damascus, suddenly a bright light from heaven flashed around him. It was with Paul’s heart that he believed, and it was with his mouth that he professed his faith. Was Paul a sinner at this time? Yes. Did he turn to the God? No.
After arriving in Damascus, Ananias said to Paul, "Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on Jesus' name" . There was no need to wash away sin if Paul without sin. It was Paul who was a sinner, so Ananias told Pau“ Now what are .you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on Jesus' name."
Paul had not eaten for three days, and after having been baptized, taking some food, he regained his strength. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. (Galatians 3:27 NIV)
Being baptized into Christ, what means into Jesus. Jesus bought with his own blood. The name Jesus means he would save his people from their sins. Being baptized is washing sins away for Jesus bought with his own blood to make us innocent because he forgiven people’s sin.
Clothing ourselves with Christ is taking Jesus as our righteousness. Being baptized is clothing ourselves with Christ for Jesus’ blood makes us righteous. Dear brothers and sisters, we are not believing into the Lord but believing and being baptized into the Lord.
