What Is Law (2)
(6) The law is established for sinners, not for the righteous man.
God will not be against himself. What is the law established for? Not for the righteous man, but for the sinner. The law You shall not murder is for evil and for those who killed so that they are lawbreakers. The law is not for a righteous man because a righteous man who loves people and he will not kill.
We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me. (1 Timothy 1:9-11)
(7) We are released from the law but not from truth.
The commandment has never abolished so brothers and sisters shall keep the commandments. There are a lot of people who have abolished the commandments which warns us. Especially the abolition of the Sabbath is a great wickedness.
But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code. (Romans 7:6 NIV)
The Bible tell us to be released from the law and can we be released from the truth? We are released from the law but not from truth. It is our duty to follow the law such as honoring parents, keeping the Sabbath, no murdering and so on.
The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming—not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship. (Hebrews 10:1 NIV)
The law is not the truth, not the reality, but the shadow. Jesus is the truth and the law is the shadow of truth. Although we are released from the law, but in fact walking in the truth, in the true meaning of the law, that is to say we are really compliant with the law.
For example, when we see a person who is sick in the Sabbath day, we can help him. So although we are released from the Sabbath' specific regulations but we are walking in the true meaning of the law, that is to say we are really compliant with the law. If we encounter an accident man on the way to keep the Sabbath, we see an accident man but we leave him in the lurch because in the Sabbath we can do nothing. Though we follow the law of the Sabbath but we are against the truth for the law is the testimony of the truth, the testimony of Jesus and Jesus is the truth. God let us be released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.
But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. (Romans 3:21 NIV)
(8) Two laws in the Garden of Eden There were two laws in the Garden of Eden which was two thousand years before Moses.
One is that Sabbath is holy day, the other is people must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil What is sin?
(1John 3: 4) whosoever sin is against the law. Breaking the law is sin.
(Romans 5:13) there is no law before sin is already in the world. But no law, sin is not guilty.
To be sure, sin was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not charged against anyone’s account where there is no law. Why we say Adam and Eve committed crime because they were against the law.
If there was no law, then they were not sinned. But with the law, they were contrary to the law so they committed crime which was contrary to the law of you might not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
(9) All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Why does a person die? It is because people are sinned. No sin, no death. Everyone has sinned, so everyone has to die, and after that to face judgment. Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. How do people have the law? God set his law in human beings' heart so that their consciences are their law.
At the last day, we all are judged according to the law. If there is no law, no judgment, no standard for judgment. How to judge the world? According to people' consciences which set by God. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one. Why everyone will die? Because no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin. Jesus' coming is not for judge the world, but for salvation.
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life and God will raise him up at the last day. God also gives him the Holy Spirit as a guaranteeing. Who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already.
(10) The law make nothing perfect, the truth make all things.
The law was given through Moses who was revealed by God in the Mount Sinai. Did Moses give truth? No, he gave the law. The truth came through Jesus, not Moses. The law is the shadow, not the reality.
Someone tell you not to smoke, can you immediately quit smoking? Drug addicts although know that drug abuse is wrong, can he follow the law? The law tells us not to love for money, have you loved for money? If we still in the crime, our destiny is destruction. Only by God's grace which lead us forsake evil, reject the filth, rebirth and to be a new man can we have eternal life in Jesus Christ.
People must stand by the grace of God. For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Jesus has won and in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. People must confess and repent so that he can be favored, be washed clean. When Jesus comes again those who are ridden by lust and full by evil in his heart are woe. However those who know to repent and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ are blessed. Truth is not judged by the number of people or the length of history.
(Galatians 3:21) if it is a law that can lead a man to be born, the righteousness is the law.So it is faith in Jesus and we should rely on the faith not on the works of the law . Although the law is good, holy but the law make nothing perfect so a better hope is introduced that is Jesus Christ and his faith.
(Daniel 6:3) For this reason that Daniel has a good spirit, it is evident that the chief executive of the rest and the governor. It is not because Daniel follow the law, so he had good spirituality. But because of his good spirituality, so he could earnestly follow the law. It is the right order that we should rely on the faith not on the works of the law. We never have the order reversed.
(11) Follow the law and follow the commandments.
Jesus came to solve the question of sin which is closely related to the question of the law. The world is under the law, so the world is guilty. No matter where and when the people all is under the law so that all people is sinned. Those who do not have the law of God, their conscience is their law. This is what the Bible says, if you want to enter eternal life, you should keep commandments.
“Why do you ask me about what is good?”Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.” (Matthew 19:17 NIV)
Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God’s commands is what counts. (1 Corinthians 7:19 NIV)
Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. (1 John 2:4 NIV)
But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: (1 John 2:5 NIV)
Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. (1 John 2:6 NIV)
